Playlunch are a seven-member Australian band from Melbourne, Australia.
The band was formed during the COVID-19 lockdowns, originating as the project of lead singer Liam Bell who began writing funk songs in a share house home-studio.
The band is made up of Liam Bell, Michael D’Emilio, Tom Kindermann, Dylan Knur, Jerry Li, Andre Lew and Austin Richardson.
Playlunch released their first single “Soupe opera” in 2022 while their first album titled “Who’s ready for a good time?” came out in 2023.
Playlunch describe their style as ‘bogan funk’ which captures all the mundane details of Aussie culture with sharp wit and fond affection.
Their most successful single ‘Keith’ was the first to enter the Australian Recording Industry Association’s pop charts and also received 4th place in Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2025.
In 2026 their second album “Sex Ed” was awarded as the Best Indipendent Rock Album.
